Amarilla Golf and Country Club introduction

This 18-hole par 72 course designed by Donald Steel has gently undulating terrain and takes advantage of the contrasts of the island, which makes it a varied course between ravines and the Atlantic Coast.

Amarilla Golf and Country Club information

    18 holes, 72 par, 5431 yards. Parkland / Links.

The designer, Donald Steel, was able to take advantage of the beautiful contrasts of the island to achieve a varied course between ravines and the Atlantic Coast. The most impressive part of the course reaches its peak at the 5th hole where an accurate shot across the sea is needed in order to reach the green. The gently undulating terrain and well maintained holes make for a challenging yet highly enjoyable round.

As this was our first time on a golfing holiday, we soon realised that the people playing in front weren't necessarily good golfers who knew the rules/etiquette of golf. Amarilla did have a marshal going out, but the marshal can't make people play more quickly. We arrived on our second day to go out after a large group of seniors and we were 30 mins late going off the tee and the whole round took over 4 and a half hours, for 4 balls, I suppose isn't that bad. The point needs to be made that playing golf isn't a gentle stroll and the group should keep up with the group in front, not keep ahead of the group behind!
