- Six of us booked to play at AA Saint Omer . I had never been before but had heard that it was of Championship status. Our party are between 8 - 19 h/c players. We booked through GB.com who were absolutely brilliant. Everything was done for us. Travel, accommodation and food. All we had to do was turn up! We left Folkestone via the Eurotunnel at 07.50 (GMT)... 25 minutes later we were hitting the road to Saint Omer. Half an hour later we were at the club parking up. We had a very warm welcome from staff at the golf club who even assisted by speaking English which was far better than my embarrassingly poor attempt at speaking French. We had coffee and a roll which was very nice and very affordable. We then went out on the course. The course is a parkland course that is set in the most amazing setting. Lush green scenic countryside. The course was in absolutely stunning condition. The tea boxes well kept and trimmed with well posted signs. The fairways well cut and trimmed into the second cut. The bunkers well raked and of good quality fluffy sand. The greens were without doubt the best I have played on for some time and lightening quick. The accommodation at the hotel was all that is required. The spar at the hotel is basic but very nice after a round of golf. The food menu was authentic and maybe a little to gourmet for my taste however the food is substantial and of good quality. I will definitely go back and can recommend this venue to anyone thinking of a trip to France.
